The Heavy Engineering Division of L&T has received an order for manufacture and supply of nine steam generators and two critical vessels for the first Prototype 500 MWe Nuclear Power Plant based on Fast Breeder Reactor. The order is valued at Rs.137 crores.

Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Limited (Bhavini), a company formed under the aegis of the Department of Atomic Energy for putting up nuclear power plants in India - based on fast breeder reactors- awarded the order to L&T. This is the first order released by Bhavini after its formation.

The first Prototype Nuclear Power Plant is being put up by Bhavini at Kalpakkam in Tamil Nadu.
L&T will complete the execution of this order in a period of 36 months commencing from January 7, 2004.
