L&T Bags Order For ACN Reactors From China

L&T has bagged an order for supply of two Acrylonitrile (ACN) Reactors and two Effluent Coolers for the ACN plant of Shanghai Secco Petrochemicals Company Limited, China.

British Petroleum alongwith Sinopec and Shanghai Petrochemical Company is setting up an integrated petrochemical complex in Chaojing near Shanghai where contract for ACN plant has been awarded to Lanzhou Design Institute (LDI) on lumpsum turnkey basis. LDI, a subsidiary of Sinopec, in turn has awarded the contract for Reactors to L&T.

The reactors weighing 625 tonnes have dimensions of 9.4 m ID and 30.2 m overall length. L&T's scope of work includes supply of Reactors including internals like cyclones as well as inlet and outlet coils. They will be fabricated at L&T's Hazira Works and shipped alongwith the Effluent Coolers to Shanghai Port during February '04.

The value of this order is Rs.25 crore and has been bagged by L&T against stiff competition from Koreans and Japanese companies.
